After obtaining her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Pieri completed her General Surgery residency at Temple University Hospital followed by a Trauma & Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center, R. Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center. Dr. Pieri is the Associate Director for Trauma Services, Program Director for the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship, Co-Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and member of the Division of General Surgery. She has been a member of the MIHS medical staff in the Department of Surgery since 2010. She serves as a member of the DMG Credentialing Committee, DMG Risk Management Committee, MIHS Tissue & Blood Transfusion Committee, MIHS Critical Care Collaborative Committee and MIHS Resuscitation Committee.

Her clinical practice is focused on the management of acutely injured trauma patients, critically ill surgical, burn and trauma patients, and acute emergency general surgery patients.

She is a member of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST), Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM).
