The Board of Directors of the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance has named Erica Brown as the organization’s executive director effective Feb. 18. She had been serving as interim executive director since July.
“The Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance Board is grateful for her exceptional service as our interim director,” said Steve Purves, Alliance board chairman and president and CEO of Valleywise Health. “We are very pleased to continue working with her as our executive director as we address the health care workforce needs here in the state of Arizona.”
Brown joined the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance in January 2019 as the director of operations. During the past year, she has overseen the initial start-up of the Alliance including the implementation of the administrative structure, budget development, Graduate Medical Education (GME) program and staff integration, and execution of the tactical framework for collaboration between the Alliance members.
In her role as executive director, Brown will report to the Alliance Board of Directors and lead the strategic partnership between Alliance members to continue leveraging expertise and resources to facilitate shared interests in the educational programs and training activities. The Alliance is responsible for administering GME for Alliance partners and overseeing the merger of residency and fellowship programs into combined programs. The Creighton Alliance also will facilitate the student coordination of clinical training programs in the School of Medicine, College of Nursing, School of Pharmacy and Health Professions and other Creighton allied health clinical training programs expanding to Phoenix.
She has more than 16 years of experience in the medical education field — including seven at Dignity Health, where she oversaw Continuing Medical Education (CME), GME and the Creighton University School of Medicine’s Phoenix Regional Campus at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. During her tenure with Dignity Health, she streamlined operations, personnel structure and budget efficiency for accredited physician education programs.
