Family Learning Center Update

Social distancing hasn't stopped the fun for Family Learning Center families! Parents and children are making crafts and participating in weekly story time videos from the comfort and safety of their homes. Arizona doctors got the green light to resume elective surgeries but things are much different than they used to be before COVID-19. On the next episode of Valley Well! Valle Salud!, surgeons Dr. Sydney Vail and Dr. Ross Goldberg discuss what to expect regarding upcoming procedures, and what health care provider can do to keep patients safe. Tito’s Hand Sanitizer

Thanks to Tito’s Handmade Vodka in Austin, Texas, for donating eight 55-gallon drums of hand sanitizer as well as 1,056 bottles of hand sanitizer to Valleywise Health earlier this week.  

Comfort Mask Delivery

The U.S Department of Health and Human Services recently donated cotton comfort masks to several Valleywise Health locations. The masks are individually wrapped and come with helpful reminders about ways to stay healthy.

Language Services Highlighted in Prensa Arizona

Language Services Manager Martha Martinez and her team were featured this week on the cover of Prensa Arizona, the state’s largest Spanish-language newspaper. They discussed the importance of interpreters during the COVID-19 pandemic.

IgG Antibody Testing Update

St. Joseph’s Hospital is nearly ready to begin IgG testing for staff. The commercial option will be available by late next week and the research option will be available by June 1. More details will be sent out once testing locations and arrangements have been finalized.

Returning to Work if You Are COVID 19 Positive

Symptomatic employees may return 10 days after the positive COVID-19 test and 72 hours symptom-free without the use of fever-reducing medications.       

Asymptomatic COVID-19 positive employees can return 10 days after the positive COVID 19 test.

PPE News

The BNI Innovation Center’s new lightweight “BIC 100 prototypes” or N95 replacement masks arrived this week and testing will begin with staff.

The reusable gown production has ramped up and the gown will soon be widely available for hospital use.
